7 Wellness Festivals to Attend Post Wellfest

Wellfest has come and gone and like many, we have mixed emotions. It was an amazing weekend, another one that will live long in the memory. Nonetheless, there is that tinge of sadness that it’s gone for another year.

Not to worry though! Having been well and truly bitten by the fitness festival bug we have updated our list of some similar events coming up this summer in Ireland. We love a good music festival but these are something different. The type of social weekends that leave you more energized on Monday than you were on Friday. I’m sure most festival revellers will agree, that’s quite an unusual feeling..!

Weekends like this should be experienced more often. So, here are seven re-energizing fitness events that we cannot wait to attend in Ireland this Summer.

Earth Song Festival Clare Ireland 2019

1. EarthSong: 14-16th June, 2019, Glendree, Co.Clare

Earthsong is a unique type of music festival that is much like a summer camp for adults. There is no alcohol, late night noise or electric music. Earthsong is held in the secluded fields of Glendree and was created to help its attendees reconnect with nature. The festival was developed by drum teacher John Bowker and is unlike anything else in Ireland.

Patrons can enjoy days full of yoga, chanting, drum circles, dancing, indigenous songs from foreign cultures and more. It is something a little different that will introduce you to a whole new way of thinking and living.

What better way to escape and re-energize!

Dublin Yoga and Vegan Festival 2019

2. Dublin Yoga & Vegan Festival: June 9, 2019, Trinity College Grounds, Dublin

This is the second annual Dublin Yoga & Vegan Festival. The event is organized by Yogific and promises something really special. The one-day event includes over 30 different yoga and meditation classes, interactive workshops, talks and more.

Of course, there will be plenty of great food to enjoy also. Last year’s festival was such a roaring success that Yogific is bringing it back! We can’t wait to check it out!

Mourne Mountains Northern Ireland

3. Mourne International Walking Festival: 28-30 June, 2019, Co Down

We often take for granted just how great a place Ireland is for walking and hiking. This festival celebrates that fact by offering a plethora of hikes in the beautiful surroundings of the Mourne Mountains (for more on this incredible piece of Ireland, check out our Weekend Adventure in Co. Down!).

The event lasts three days and attendees can take in some amazing scenery while mingling with fellow hiking enthusiasts. The festival is internationally recognized and a real highlight for the walking community. Besides, this is the land of the Game of Thrones, who wouldn’t want to hike through that? (While we’re on that topic, fans of GoT might like to check out the Game of Thrones Tours)

4. Soul Space: 15 Sep 2019, Claregalway Castle, Galway

Launched in 2018, Soul Space is a festival created by Miriam Kerins and Gerry Hussey, the incredible minds behind ‘The Awakening’. Gerry is a well-known sports psychologist while Miriam is a qualified pharmacist, integrated wellness coach, and yoga instructor. Both recently drew massive audiences to their talks at Wellfest in 2017.

Soul Space is an accumulation of all their experience which will focus on the three pillars of mind, body and spirit. Soul Space is billed as a "powerful, immersive one-day event that delivers a synergy of remarkable workshops held by leading minds in mental, physical, spiritual and human performance." Gerry and Miriam will be giving talks on the day. This year’s speakers are yet to be announced so watch this space!

Dublin Veg Fest 2019

5. Dublin Vegfest: 28-29 September 2019, Griffith College, Dublin

Being held at Griffith College grounds in September, Dublin Vegfest is a celebration of all things vegan and plant-based. Entering into its 5th year now, Vegfest was started by a small group of people, dedicated to living a vegan lifestyle. Their aim is to create a festival event for anyone living the lifestyle, or who might be “curious about veganism, great ethical food, community, health and having the craic.”

The event runs over 2 days and includes panel talks, seminars, demonstrations, movie screenings, a food village, competitions, exhibitions and more! Keep an eye on their website and social as the final details for this September’s event are still to be confirmed.

Dublin Mental Health and Wellbeing Summit

6. Mental Health and Wellbeing Summit: 11 October 2019, Croke Park, Dublin

Billed as the only event of its kind in Ireland, this is a one-day event that focuses solely on providing practical advice, tools and information on managing your (or other’s) mental health. A little different than some of the other events in this post, this is more summit than a festival, but we think the focus on mental health is an important one and the range of speakers and exhibitors means there really is something for everyone.

Held at Dublin’s Croke Park in October, the Mental Health and Wellbeing Summit will feature talks, seminars and an exhibition hall plus uplifting, live performances from the Dublin Gospel Choir.

Dublin Mind Body Expo 2019

7. Dublin Mind-Body Experience: 17-19 May 2019, RDS, Dublin

This is a yoga, meditation, health and wellbeing event with free entry all weekend long. There are over 60 holistic therapists, yoga + mindfulness teachers providing free classes, demonstrations and treatments,  plus a slew of exhibitors showcasing health and wellness products + services.

Pre-register on the website to get priority access to all the talks and classes you can handle (there’s 75 hours worth of yoga classes alone) and delve into the world of plant-based living in the Veg Out Dublin zone. You can even get some psychic advice with Tarot readings, Palmistry or Angel cards in the Psychic and Holistic Fair area!

Don’t forget that we’ll be hosting our Summer Stretch Series again this year. In 2019  we’ll be running events every weekend throughout the month of June, in Dublin and Cork!
