Ashling Murphy Vigils
Ashling Murphy was murdered by a man on the Canal Bank in Tullamore yesterday, while out for a run at 4pm in the afternoon.
She was 23 years old.
Our community is made up of women, just like Ashling. Our community is also made up of men. This is not a women’s issue.
We are really, really angry. In our HQ team of 53 staff, 36 of them are women. Our retail team is 80% female. All of them run. None of them are running tonight.
We’ve created a list of vigils happening around the country below, in memory of Ashling if you’d like to go and pay your respects, or if you just want to be around other people processing the same anger, frustration and heartbreak as you.
If you’d like a buddy to run with, message us and we’ll do our best to find someone to run with you.

She was going for a run.
Ashling Murphy was murdered by a man on the Canal Bank in Tullamore yesterday, while out for a run at 4pm in the afternoon.
She was 23 years old.
Our community is made up of women, just like Ashling.
Women who tonight might not be going for that run.
Women who tonight might be getting a friend to pick them up from training.
Women who tonight, are walking home in pairs because they don’t want to walk alone.
Women who have already spent a lifetime of keys-between-fingers,
texts-when-you-get-home. Who don’t run with headphones, who change their routine, who carry pepper spray in their pocket. Women who share their location with friends and have taken self-defense classes, ‘just in case’.
Our community is also made up of men. This is not a women’s issue. It never has been.
