We have almost recovered mentally + physically from our latest adventure weekend in County Down in Northern Ireland.
Saturday: Castlewellan Adventures
We kicked off the weekend with a relaxing yoga class of stretching, strengthening and breathing with the absolutely lovely Jemma Kelly, a local instructor from Castlewellan. After a load of caffeine and grub from Urban Cafe we headed for our main adventure of the day… tackling the Mountain Biking Trails at Castlewellan Forest Park! Within minutes bums were dirtied and our inner-voices that were screaming at us to turn back were ignored. Big shout out to Johnny and Flo from Life Adventure Centre who guided us through the trails and pushed us to test our limits. Our adventure crew definitely caught the Mountain Biking bug and have even decided to start the very first G+C Biker Gang.
Sunday: Mourne Mountains
For day 2 we set off early to climb Northern Ireland’s highest peak, Slieve Donard, located in the Mourne Mountain range. We were led by the fierce Mel from Galz Gone Wild and reunited with Roxie the resident G+C Adventure dog.
We began at sea level and scaled the full 850 metres up but our sky-high celebrations may have been pre-emptive as we kind of forgot we had to get back down again… by the time we reached our cars there was no way our jelly legs could handle driving without a strong feed and coffee from Railway St. Cafe. Totally worth it and we definitely deserved those brownies too!
A huge thank you to the wild and wonderful crew who joined us on our second ever Adventure Weekend - you were the highlight of our weekend and we hope you’ll join us again!
