The times they are a changin’.
The countdown is well and truly on for one of the social events of the year. Thousands of tickets have been sold and the anticipation is building.Wellfest 2018 is almost upon us.
The fact that one of the most eagerly awaited events of the year is a fitness festival demonstrates just how much the health & wellness movement has shaped our culture in recent years.
For those of you who are not familiar with Wellfest...
We cannot wait for this year’s event. It’s shaping up to be better than ever. Here are seven reasons to join us in the excitement.
In Ireland, there are approximately two to three times in the year that you are almost guaranteed to see the sun. Firstly, as the students are preparing to head indoors to sit exams, Murphy’s law all but ensures a heatwave. Secondly, whatever date you booked a much needed foreign sun holiday, you just know that the jealous Irish sun will make sure it’s hotter in Ireland than 99% of the planet. But now, there is a third guaranteed time to pencil in. It comes when thousands of outrageously positive minds descend on Wellfest. The sun can’t help but come out and celebrate.
We loved being at Herbert Park for last year’s event. That said, we have to say we are very excited about the new location at The Royal Hospital Kilmainham. At the grounds of one of Dublin’s most iconic buildings, this move means that Wellfest is going to be even more of a spectacle. With a total of 12 stages, there is going to be a whole lot of choice.

We love a good cooking demo here at G+C and that is why we are so excited to see some of our favourite people give live demonstrations. Roz Purcell, The Happy Pear, Bosh!, Deliciously Ella, The Body Coach and The Food Grinder will all be strutting their stuff. One event that has piqued our interest and we think will be a real hit is a demo from the lads at Currabinny. Here, hilarious Snapchat star James Kavanagh and William Murray will be sharing some new recipes. Sounds like fun!
One stage we think is not to be missed is the Mental Fitness Stage - Wellfit. People have been awoken to the power of mental fitness and mindfulness techniques in recent years. The stage will be curated by Irish performance psychologist Gerry Hussey. Of course Gerry, along with wife Miriam, will be holding a pretty big event of their own in September - theAwaken Festival.
There is nothing like a group training session. Sometimes when you are not feeling up for it, the energy of the other people in the class can pull you through. Now, multiply that energy by hundreds of people. Then take the class outdoors and the positivity created is simply mind blowing.
At this year’s event there will be sessions with the Body Coach, The Viking Method, Bradley Simmonds, GypsyOn, Patrick Beach and more. There will be plenty of HIIT, Crossfit, Yoga, Pilates, PoundFit and more. This year will also have the largest outdoor Spinning tent from McSport Ireland. A festival where you leave feeling healthier, we like the sound of that.
There are going to be some huge names flying in from all over the world to wow the crowds. We cannot wait to get the chance to see them but we are also looking forward to seeing our own homegrown talent in action. The fitness industry is thriving in Ireland. It fills us with immense pride to see so many inspirational Irish fitness entrepreneurs doing such great things. Kathryn Thomas, Julie B Yoga, The Happy Pear, Brian O’Loughlin, Maeve Madden, Miriam Hussey, the list goes on and on.
What we are most excited about is that we are back, once again, asOfficial Clothing Partner to Wellfest 2018.Last year was absolutely incredible. Words cannot describe the buzz we got from meeting the amazing members of our community properly for the first time. We cannot wait for more of the same this time around. We have even more activities planned so make sure to head over to our tent and say “hello!”.
Don’t forget to check out our classes ahead of time here.
