The Grind Coffee House in Howth has, over the last few years, become synonymous with exceptional pancakes as well as top-notch coffee and a friendly & incredibly active staff. We realise that *technically* pancakes don’t count as ADVENTURE SNACKS! food but contextually this works really well, so just go with it….
The lads very kindly took a bit of time out of their mad schedules (both Darragh & John are personal trainers on top of owning & operating the cafe), to give us the secret ingredients for making their world-famous-in-Dublin Protein Pancakes. Grab a bottle of Maple Syrup and dig in!
*Random Protein Fact: The lads go through 20kilos of protein mix every Sunday in the cafe….
4 servings (3 pancakes per person)
The world is your oyster when it comes to what (and how much of the what) you put on your pancakes. Make Life Richer and go a little crazy if you fancy it but here’s what the lads from The Grind recommend:
Add all ingredients into a large mixing bowl and blend with an electric hand mixer. If you don’t have a hand mixer, you can also add the ingredients to an electric smoothie blender and combine in batches.
Leave the mix to settle in the fridge for approximately 30 mins (this step is not requisite, but helps to give the pancake mix a nice consistency.
Put a little butter in a hot frying pan and cook pancakes in single batches.
Eat. Enjoy. Be a little smug about your culinary skills.

1 Tbsp Fat-free yoghurt
250ml Orange juice
Generous Squeeze of honey
1 smoothie (not for sharing - it’s too good).
Add 1 scoop of ice to a blender, throw all your ingredients in after and blend to your desired consistency!
